New/Old School...My Alma Mater, Midland High
Well, here I am here at Midland High School. Home of the Bulldogs, the purple and the gold, and Friday Night Lights.
I am so very excited to be home, and even more thrilled to be teaching at the high school I attended back in the day.
My students are all awesome. Really and truly- I honestly do not have any major issues this year. I am so blessed!
Of course, if you know me, you know I love Poe. This is the first year where I have been able to teach "The Pit and the Pendulum!"
More coming soon!

Cedar Ridge- 10th Graders...Carpe Diem!
Cedar Ridge- 10th Graders...Carpe Diem!
Good Evening to all of my P.B.A.D.'s out there...please sign up and comment on my blog...I would really like to get this thing going this year. I have good news...my mom is going to sew up and fix the classroom bear for us over Thanksgiving! Also, I am very excited about having a fun, school appropriate performance for Julius Caesar...Toga Party (togas go over your clothes). We can even have a cool Roman food party, and I can show you how the Romans used to eat (reclining). Julius Caesar is actually an incredible play about betrayal, power, and loyalty to one's country. The cool thing is that it is based on a real, historical figure. We won't study it for a while, but I am getting excited! I am even more excited about Antigone; she is a great female protagonist; she is the daughter of Oedipus, the king who blinded himself. Learn more about him by studying Greek Mythology. I look forward to the school year with everyone!
Love,
Ikard

A New Beginning...
It is amazing how fast a summer goes...it is already August, and another school year has come...
Now I am back teaching high school, and very excited...
The building here at Cedar Ridge is so beautiful...
I finally have windows after being in the district for seven years. I love the natural lighting! Mr. Bear (Pancho Villa) has settled in well; my new Raven hat is here. I am sad that the old raven is gone, but what can I do?
Next job: clean out the garage.
:-)
Love,
Ikard
P.S. I CAN'T wait to meet my new precious baby angel darlings!!!!

Thoughts...
As I watched the Leadership video today, I felt so mixed with emotions.
I wanted to cry- I know that is silly.
When I was in sixth grade I was bullied, and it is a scar that I carry with me to this day. It was a very bad case, to where I could not go to school, and I developed stomach ulcers.
Please...if you know that someone is being bullied tell an adult.

I love my job...no, really...
Teaching today made me a little emotional.
I was so proud of all of my students. I cannot believe that only five did not pass the test! That is really awesome. I am going to work very hard with these five kids.
All of my students are so awesome this year; I really am blessed.
I think about my grandmother a lot (she was a teacher); I think she would be proud of me. Maybe a little disappointed that I don't speak fluent Spanish yet, but proud.
:-)
